De toekomst van de Werkspoorhal in Oostenburg staat op het spel. Op 17 oktober organiseren wij samen met Stichting Over de Brug een buurtavond om de plannen voor deze iconische plek te bespreken. Wil jij meedenken over wat de Werkspoorhal kan betekenen voor de buurt? Wil je jouw mening delen over de komst van The Bubble Club, een commerciële sporthal met zes padelbanen? En vraag jij je af hoe we samen kunnen zorgen dat dit unieke stukje van onze stad een plek blijft voor en door de buurt?
Kom op 17 oktober om 19:30 naar Buurtkamer Over de Brug (Isaac Titsinghkade 123, 1018 LL Amsterdam) en laat je stem horen! Samen kunnen we ervoor zorgen dat de Werkspoorhal een plek blijft waar buurtbewoners samenkomen, activiteiten organiseren en een echt buurtgevoel ervaren.
Waarom is dit belangrijk?
De Werkspoorhal heeft altijd een speciale rol gehad in Oostenburg. Samen met buurtbewoners werd eerder een visie ontwikkeld voor de invulling van deze hal, met de belofte dat het een publiek toegankelijke en sociale ontmoetingsplek zou worden. Maar nu dreigt het commerciële belang van een vastgoedmagnaat, en tevens eigenaar van The Bubble Club, deze plannen opzij te schuiven.
Wij geloven dat er een betere invulling mogelijk is voor deze monumentale hal. Een invulling die aansluit bij de oorspronkelijke visie: een plek waar buurtbewoners samenkomen, activiteiten organiseren en het echte buurtgevoel ervaren. Het zou zonde zijn als opnieuw een prachtig stukje Amsterdam verdwijnt in de zakken van een vastgoedbaas.

The future of the Werkspoorhal in Oostenburg is at stake. On October 17th, we are organizing a community evening together with Stichting Over de Brug to discuss the plans for this iconic space. Do you want to contribute your ideas about what the Werkspoorhal could mean for the neighborhood? Would you like to share your opinion about the arrival of The Bubble Club, a commercial sports hall with six padel courts? And are you wondering how we can ensure that this unique part of our city remains a space for and by the community?

Why is this important?
The Werkspoorhal has always played a special role in Oostenburg. Together with local residents, a vision was previously developed for this space, with the promise that it would be a publicly accessible and social gathering place. But now the commercial interests of a real estate magnate, threaten to push these plans aside.
We believe there is a better way to use this monumental space. An approach that aligns with the original vision: a place where residents come together, organize activities, and experience a true sense of community. It would be a shame if yet another beautiful part of Amsterdam were to disappear into the pockets of a real estate tycoon without the involvement of the neighbourhood.
